Pediatric and Adolescent Speech Language Pathologist
Katie Sims, MA, CCC-SLP, graduated from the University of Kansas in 2021 with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology, where she served as a graduate research assistant focused on measuring early social communication in autism. She enhanced her education with a graduate certificate in autism spectrum disorders and doctoral coursework in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). With extensive experience in autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Gestalt Language Processing, Katie is passionate about child-led, neurodiversity-affirming therapy. She has worked in diverse settings, including special education preschools, multidisciplinary clinics, private and Montessori schools, and home-based therapy. Specializing in AAC, Katie provides evaluations and support services that empower children and their families to utilize multimodal communication. Her approach extends beyond facilitating communication; she is dedicated to helping each child find their voice and develop a strong sense of self-determination and autonomy. In her free time, Katie enjoys exploring parks, practicing yoga, crafting, and spending quality moments with her family.
